Voyage to New Zealand

Dear Matthew,

How are you? How is it going back at home? Anything exciting happened?

The ride's been very long so far. I can't wait to get to New Zealand. I'm feeling so excited because I can't wait to see what there is there. But I am a little bit nervous too. There could be lions. Or tigers. Or leopards!

The first thing I want to do when I get there is look at the scenery. I can see some land from here so we must be nearly there.

I'll write back to you when I get to the island.

                               3 facts about Maui

Maui is the best fisherman ever because he caught a giant fish. It turned out to be the

North Island and his canoe became the South Island.

Maui made his fishing line out of flax and jawbone his grandfather gave him.
He sang an old karakia to strengthen the line. A karakia is a Maori prayer.

Maui’s brothers didn’t want Maui to come fishing with them because they didn’t like Maui.


I've also learned about Maui and the sun.

Right Place, Right Time

Today we were making a Right place, Right time Poster. We learned it by Madeline telling us. We learned it because it was Toki Pounamu time. I enjoyed looking for the pictures. There was no challenging part. Next time I could put a background in.

Adjectives

Walt: use descriptive language in our writing and increase our vocabulary. Last week we were learning about adjectives.We learned it by the teacher showing us.  We learned it because we are doing descriptive writing. I enjoyed doing the colours. The challenging bit was finding adjectives. To be btb I have to find more adjectives.
